La Bohème, 2021

Set in current-day New York, this filmed opera re-imagines La Boheme by glorifying rooftops, mattresses, and the grungy, sexy, dirty world of being in your early twenties in the city that never sleeps.

This new interpretation comments upon and highlights the racism and unjust treatment towards the AAPI community during the Covid pandemic.

This film, directed and adapted by Rettmer, was a co-production between Opera Omaha, More than Musical, and Tri-Cities Opera.
